Heh so I'm slow, I bugged all my buddies to do their introductions, but I slacked and didn't do my own. Feeling bad about my hypocrisy and disgruntled at the fact I'm forced to take a mandatory lunch at work, here I go:
My name is Michelle. My UC friends call me "miche"; my JC friends call me "chelle"; my friends from japanese class call me "michan" or "mimi"; others don't call me at all (haha). So pick a name, I respond to any of them though I use "miche" most often. I'm a graphic designer by profession. I have a BA in psychology from UCSC, and I graduated salutatorian from Brooks College in Sunnyvale with an AS in graphic design. right, NERD. I'm currently working in corporate signage so I start work early and get out of work early. When not working, I'm a gamer at heart (my bf is a gamestop manager) and amuse myself playing one of my systems (though am on hiatus from mmorpogs right now since the beta test for WOW). I specialize in limited edition/special edition stuff, but due to complicated circumstances have not been able to keep up my hobby though my bf does. Look for me playing my psp or ds outside of class.
I'm relatively new to hip hop, but not new to dance in general. Originally I didn't want to do dance, I wanted to learn karate..hahaha. Since my parents veto'd that idea, I turned to dance and fell in love. I was classically trained as a dancer at Joy of Dancing (studio) in San Jose. I spent 13 years  doing Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Modern, and Lyrical. When I left for the UC, I attempted to stay the path of a dancer by taking some of the UC dance classes, but they were too introductory for me to maintain the technique at the level I needed. Eventually, I had to give up dance altogether for 7 years to get my degrees (my dad was opposed to me dancing anyway). In 2005, I returned to Joy and took a year of lyrical, advanced tap, adult tap, and jazz. (I tried a little bit of their version of "hip hop" too) The studio used to be a good place to learn grow, but they had become overly focused on how good one's costume should look and how many competitions they can win. Not what I wanted, so I lasted till recital then quit. haha long background, I apologize.
The one thing about dance is that once you find love for it, the love never dies. I watched people perform and in my heart, I always missed the learning new things and the fun when others are learning with you. I toyed with the idea of learning a new style of dance for a while, but it wasn't until Wayne and Maurine proposed taking hip hop at Mission College that I took that step back into something I felt I had lost forever. I'm so glad I let Wayne bully me into going to check out Ceech's class. I'm now in our second semester taking intermediate hip hop with so many great people! :D
So yeh, there you go. Nice to meet you!
