well actually my name is Jon :] But there's so many jons out there my friends gave me my name. I like to call my self a funkstyler, but I still need more guidance. I got into the scene by bboying, but due to a stupid skateboarding injury, I had to stop bboying, so I took up popping. Popping led to other styles, but over I still think I need help. I session at bboy sessions, so I can't really get opinions from them other than "thats pretty fierce" or "youre raw". Are there any sessions around the south bay(408) that welcomes my style?

edit: I coulda sworn I was reg'd on here before?

Haha i may have been dancing for 3 years, but I think I wasted those 3 years T_T I went to shakedown last week and got roasted by other dancers. I got advice from one of the other dancers who were just there to cypher to go back to the basics. I'm sure he said this with intentions of helping, but I took offense to this simply because of my musical background(i've been taking drum lessons since I was in 4th grade) so most of my movements are based off of subdivisions of the beat. Although at the same time, I dont blame him since he sessions with other funkstylers and I'm stuck with bboys. Know any good practice spots in the 408?

I'm considering taking ceeches HH class since I'm already at mission for this fall.

I believe we, as human, are all naturally like that. It's easy to take offense, but it takes a more mature adult to understand how to move on positively from there. Take all feedbacks you get and do something different to get a different result that you want.

I look forward to meeting you again soon j-two.

First of all, welcome back to the new board!

I totally know what you mean. When I freestyle, I get caught up hearing all the little things going on in between the main beats, and it tends to knock me off beat or distract me from the next section. Maybe your goal should be to make those subdivisions clearer, or be more selective about which musical figures you really wanna accent in your dance. I know that's one of my problems I'm working through with my popping. Cheers to musicians! Hehe.

Whaddup J-Two!!

Welcome to the boards again. San Jose is home to many a great popper. I know on the site here is info for where Aiko holds classes. Lots of poppers go there to hang out and also help teach. Like SpaceWalker, Atomic Boy, other members of Playboys.

With a bboying background, you'll be able to hit up some killer ground moves for your popping. Keep at it!
