I know that community center well, but I didn't know there was locking taught during those sessions too. Just thought it was all b-boying. I think I'll make a visit next week or so, it sounds like a great chance to meet new dancers!

Yo sorry guys but the sessions at the Alum Rock Youth Center have now been canceled, the center wasn't supportin what we were doing so Aiko is now seeking a new venue to hold sessions. Wednesday sessions downtown are still up and running so feel free to stop by and if you have any questions leave me a PM, peace...

Ceech's summer class ended last week so I ventured out to San Jose last night to check this thing out.

This is actually supposed to be a program to keep kids off the streets. However, in order to keep the program going Aiko has to keep numbers high so feel free to drop in, donate your $1, and practice in the space.

Although it's mostly bboys and Aiko mostly teaches breakdancing, if you want to do some locking, just ask. She is super friendly and enthusiastic! Aiko has been locking for a long time. She's been doing it since the late 70s when she was a tween.

There's no mirror, it's kind of just a big room. But it's a NICE, big room. And Aiko is a super cool resource!!! She will school you if you just ask.

She uses different terminology than you guys, though. For example, on Monday, Lawrence showed me something and called it the "scooby walk." Aiko showed me the same thing yesterday but called it the "Hollywood walk."

Anybody wanna go with me next week??????:p

How advanced is the breaking she teaches? I'm always down to work on my non existent breaking skills :o

When I went there there were just some kids dancing around and she was just overseeing the space so if you ask her ?s, I'm sure she's happy to help you out with whatever, whatever your level

I agree dave. I was wondering if anybody wanted to have some sessions in san jose or santa clara or something because these two dead weeks suck. Sounds like at least we have wednesdays to get down a little.
