When you start learning a move or a dance, start with small steps. Trying to learn a move in a day sometimes can be like trying to drink from a fire hose. It can be overwhelming. Break down teach section and learn small sections one at a time. For example, watch what the feet is doing first. Then watch what the hip is doing, then the chest, then the arms, then the head, and so forth and so forth. This way, you can have fun and not get frustrated if you don't get it right away. :)

Happy dancing.

this is superb advice ceech!!!

another one that goes with this, is when you are breaking things down... so them SLOOWWWW. Like slow motion slow... it helps you understand what the movements are/what muscles your body needs to use to execute them, and will help you get things a lot faster.

A little patience goes a long way.

thanx. since you teach also, maybe when you get to it, you can post simple tips that people can use to help themselves improve as well.

been tellin people since day 1:

dance is about the journey not the destination. About the experiences you get, people you meet, things you do. Thats what's important, or at least what you'll find is the most important. So dont be down on yourself, newbies, its nothing in the long run

Most importantly..dance is ALL about RHYTHM...you can know and do ALL the moves you want but the thing to do with those moves is to do them in RHYTMN of the music(listen to the music). Otherwise, you truly are NOT dancing. It's about the movement and not just the moves.
NOTE: BEAT and RHYTMN are distinct from one another...peace

Damn good advice. In addition to what Invent had stated, 'Everything' has a relationship. The process of which you involve your body and actually concentrate on the muscle DOING the motion and being conscious of it (the mind) is called 'connection'. But wait! there's more...
connection is not only the harmony/relationship between mind and body (to promote muscle memory) and but it has to incorporate emotion.
Hella corny but you need to USE emotion to express dance. Street dance (popping locking bboyin etc)has to have expression bc they are
agressive forms if dance.
Always be aware of the relationshop IN BETWEEN MOVEMENTS..whether it be a change in body parts(to include muscle relaxation to contraction) to changes in speed (known as dynamics).
