hey guys, 2euce here...what can you guys tell me about House Dancing? From what ive heard from numerous people, i just know there are 3 components of House Dancing (one of which is Jacking i believe...), and that House Dancing came before bboying...anybody able to verify that? get at me!
I see some similarities in the movements in relation to toprocking and such, but i wouldnt make the call to say that they are related. I heard that House came before bboying back in New York, so perhaps that explains the similarities? In anycase, id like to learn more about the history of House and how the House movement is going here in the Bay Area. HOOOO~!

i think jardy is on this website, he would be a great person to have fill in the history of house dancing.
with my limited knowlege, i do believe the three main components in house dancing are jacking, footwork, and lofting.

you sir, are correct. I'll try to get Jardy to speak some history on this. House dancing is tight, its just too bad there aren't enough places to see house dancers in action, unless you live in the East Coast =P

Only thing a shammy is good for is healing in tree form. otherwise its too general of a class, much like druids.

Off topic
1. Shammies don't have tree form, thats druids.
2. when you're in lfg, people don't want dps, they want heals/tanks or hybrid.
3. Have a 70 rogue, will re-roll Death Knight/Shammie in WOTLK, except if I do arena, i'll level rogue
Back on topic, Lucas in Oakland is def the place to go, although I'm hearing one of their DJs left so the scene isn't quite what it used to be. Check out Jardy's class (he wrote his info on the class section of nustudios). Its all the way in Los Gatos, but well worth it.

To my knowledge... I find similarities between house and funk. It has the same feel because of how your body moves to the upbeat. The feeling is suppose to be in your chest starting from bottom up.
House is definitely fun to dance to. When you take a class, you learn some crazy footwork.

here's the simple way to look at things: Hip Hop- your head bounces forward, Funk, you head bounces backward, House - head bounces forward with a reverse body roll, B-boy- you bounce on your head.

A LIL MUSIC LESSON: DOUBLE YOU KONG is right funk and house are similar. To take a step further or 'backwards', FUNK begets house due to its offspring which is DISCO. House in its early stages is sampled beats from disco beats. (Look up the DJ Larry Levan). The vocals are soul notes (NOT R&B). Disco vocals are 'more' soul than the ruffnes of funk (except for when funk artists sing slow songs/balleds). When jazz came into existance, it automatically became an entity along with blues(which THE main contributer of funk). Funk was then a 'concept' ergo artist would funk up their jazz, rock and roll was greatly influenced by funk even the likes of AC/DC(which were one of the main fathers of metal) and even country/blue grass in. Being a concept thus turns into a way if thinking and progressively a way of life. As funk became more of an entity, the bold sound became so compelling to people that even the mildness of disco had to have it as artists were constantly innovating their own sound. Ultimately, house already has funk in it due to disco. SOOOOO when you are locking to house, in essence, you are locking to funk.
hope this helps. one love-Funkee AsiatiC aka Charlie Hustle
