so i don't get it. it's a 3000 mile race - and like the cops don't try and represent hell hard? or they do, and the gumballians are just to fast. i'm lost, but it sounds cool!

When the race starts and stops for heats, cops are there for crowd control. to stop people vandalizing these exquisite machines. However, when your on the road in between your checkpoints, its just like any day on the road. Gumballers have to outrun cops, pay them off, etc.... Every race someone's car gets crashed or impounded, or jailed themselves. Its part of the spirit of the race. Just get across the country as fast as u can, **** everything else, including the Po.

Forgive the skepticism, as I am uninformed about this race. But outrun the po? How often does a car escape from the police and they just let him/her go without backup or like more effort? Not talkin' about the ones that are paid off, but I would hope there are cops out there that can't be bought off.

In the Gumball Rally handbook it states that the drivers of the rally are encouraged to stop when they see police and obey the authority. however this is more or less to just relieve the event organizers from claims and responsibility over incidents.

but i've heard stories from past gumballers hiding from the police or driving through forests to loose them etc...

basically, 200+MPH sports car vs. 300hp police crown victoria. who's gonna win in a straight line?

Ha, in a straight line the cop would clearly loose I just figured they wouldn't be like aw hell, just let him go, who cares.

However, I know nothing about racing so I'll just take it for what it is and go "daaaaang." Does sound pretty B.A, especially the forest chase.

how do you decide who the winner is? do you like just drive the shortest route? or is there like a staggering for times and distances? ehh, i'll just wiki it

wow, lotsa questions about a race across the country:rolleyes:

The routes are given to the drivers while they are on the starting grid for that particular heat. They dont know the destination city, just the end destination (new york, miami etc) but lets say your leaving SF, where's ur next stop? Reno? Las Vegas? somewhere in Montana? driver donst know till he's on the starting grid.

There are 2 awards. First of all is fastest total. which is determined by who comes in first on all the checkpoints the most. Average out and determine a winner who got to all the checkpoints the most quick.

the last award is the most covited: spirit of the Gumball. Which is awarded to hte person who did it with the most style, flair, or best story. Last year a guy in a Ice Cream truck made the trip and won the award. In order to stay with the pack he and his crew never had time to sleep. At a certain point if you do not make the checkpoint you are out of the rally.

My buddy enters his ferrari every few years. He hasn't in the past few years cause of how lazy hes been T_T. I wanna run in this before I die. just run, I dont have to win. Everyone knows how lethal a 2J or 1J motor is ;]

Also, Cops CAN keep up top speed. They can't keep up with acceleration though. I can't count how many times I've got away from cops by slowing down and brake boosting on them.
