Pretty much, I saw one of their practice videos, and felt they were given each other too easy of props... (crew's should be honest and tough with each other is my take on it). I said something about it (in my usual rough internet way), and called them out to a battle.

A lot of trash talk ensued on their part... summing it up: they said I was a nobody, would can't dance, and was too wussy to show up and battle one of them, let alone all of them...
But I showed up to Eye4 an Eye in Sacramento to battle all of their poppers... And I brought some friends...

Might I mind you, this is a CYPHER/BEEF battle... take from it what you will... there was a lot of crap talking from both sides, and it ended with AoV walking away...

Haha pretty much everyone in here are buds of mine!!

THIS is one of the better examples of handling a cutup or battle because it is straight up honest, spontaneous, no formal judging or preset staged hype. It just happened and got handled.

You can decide your own winner or winners but for those that jumped in and did it, you all are winners just for doing. Cut the excuses.

Talking ISH is PART of this dance scene. BEEN THAT WAY SINCE DAY ONE!!! Competitions are a HEALTHY thing and only helps the dancer grow and learn more.

I was happy to see this clip. ABOUT TIME more people get recognized in the scene!

Good stuff and hope to see more rounds. Hell maybe the next one may even get sponsored in a big event. Let's move it up and keep it REAL!!!

Folks need to learn to handle criticism. If you're going to GROW you have to know not everything you do is 100% perfect. So when someone points out something they see a little off, we have to accept that as something that can be helpful.

We are ALL STUDENTS, even old rusty ass fools like me (sheesh ESPECIALLY OLD RUSTY ASS fools like me). So a little critique is essential to know where you can improve. Doesn't mean you S U C K!! Isn't that what we are striving for? To get better at these dances??

Getting better at them truly DOES HELP YOU ENJOY them. That added confidence where you really, truly, honestly hit that stop or wave or roll at the right time of the beat/music is what prompts one to say "I dance for me and cause it makes me feel good..."

(Well if you're off beat or struggling with the dance, how does that feel good???)

Friends, Groupmates, family - should be honest with each other.

Great way of looking at beef and battles doc! It's all about how you look at things.

Everyone will have different sides of the story and frankly I don't care. You called us out and we accepted. We got down and did our thing... as for us walking away? That's ur opinion but others (AOV and neutral viewers) say it was over long time ago... **** talkin is natural in battles but please don't say it was only on our side. You side talked ISH too...

As for easy props. We see something we like we let me kno to give them confidence. Its not like we went wild or screamed. Before the clip, Pharside was all giving us advice and pointers to try and use.

I love criticism cause it helps me become a better dancer. Invent came too strong on his comment and for not knowing him I took it as an insult.

Invent, if you still have something against me or anyone else let them know in person or private message.

Ellatron...
Like I said... on youtube I gave my 2 cents, in my way... ya it seemed like some **** talk (ill get to that near the end of this post)... whatever... but long after you guys accepted the call out, the **** talk kept goin on from your end, which is fine with me... just showed you guys underestimated me... A LOT hehe. At the battle though... both sides talked A LOT of **** with out a doubt!!! It was actually nice to be a part of that...
It feels like the scene has lost a lot of its passion, but that showed that cats still got that fire!!! So honestly, I think it was a positive thing not bein all buddy buddy with one another.

In my book (and many others) walking away in a cypher battle, that means you quit... you lose. Unless you virtually embarass the other cats outta the circle. I was just settling in and ready for about 15 more rounds... as were the other guys. There's a reason I'm not sayin "oh we smoked em!!" cuz we didnt dance to our fullest potential... I felt we won (no sets), or it was one of those "Ehhhhh that can go either way" sorta deals... But I know you guys felt you won. And I can see your points in it...

It's a cypher battle, so it's all in perspective... I respect y'alls perspective.

And as for me comin on too strong on the youtube biznass. Yeah... I did come on too strong. I admit that. I'll actually go as far as to say sorry for rubbin off on y'all the wrong way... but I feel too if it were any kinder, you guys would have glossed over it. (because I've learned that that's what people do in the scene)

At the end of the day, we all grew off of this experience, and we all came out, did our thing, and repped the scene.
There's no bad blood on this side. I would like to battle again sometime in the future when there's no craziness behind... just skill on skill...
I'm glad y'all accepted my call out. And obviously, you should know for next time, if I call someone out (or get called out) I'm not gonna punk, cuz that's NOT what I do. EVER. I'll even battle with a broken leg if I have to.

Keep doin what all do. If you love it and live it... then nothings gonna stop you from doin it!!

....back in the day we didn't settle nothing on the dance floor...actually the dance caused more trouble sometimes hahaha!! Probably why lots of places started banning it. Not promoting it either...but remember this is a street dance...and that just happened in the streets.

Again...props to all who truly rep and keep their MINDS and HEARTS open.

I gotta say man, I respect this post and the way everything's been handled on the aftermath. It's good that all of the beef (or at least i'm hoping most of it) was handled as fast as it was so that it wasn't one of those lingering issues.

I think it's healthy for a good portion of the dancers in the scene to be put in these types of situations. I know it's not for everybody. But I know that a lot of the people i've met so far in this community love it. Some even thrive on it! Battling is the ish =). Especially when it's not left up to the fate of brackets haha. Call-outs can really help both sides grow. Not like there has to be a lot of animosity in it, but both sides will train a lot differently preparing for it!

I think it was great experience for both sides to go through. We've all have heard those stories from the OG's of "back in the day" and how they handled beef on the dancefloor. I hope we can have those kind of stories to tell the up-and-comings in the later years of our journey.

But on the clip itself..yeah I kinda feel it was one of those "could have gone either way" deals too. I also think that maybe if it had been in a club setting everyone would've just stayed in it til someone actually did get punked out. Haha that's just what I think, not like i was there for it or anything. I only say that because I feel the AoV side wasn't mentally prepared the same way the other side was for the cypher battle. But you know, now maybe they can read this and it's just another lesson learned for the next time.

But still, props to both sides for holding it down!

and...i wish i could pop haha!

Hmmm.. It was over so quickly for there being so many people. It was like those rounds were the warm up to something greater and then....BOOM..It's over.

Overall mood...Disappointed:mad:..

O, and I don't know how they wouldn't be "mentally prepared" for the cypher battle when they named the place and the time?

Ah just to be clear I'm not trying to defend the outcome or anything like that. I was trying to communicate that both parties MAY have been prepared differently(?). It's just my guess. The AoV guys can correct me if I'm wrong. Like if I were watching or even was participitaing in that particular battle I don't think I would have had the proper mentality. I'd probably bounce after 3 rounds or so. And that's just cuz I'm still new to the concept of cypher battles. But now I know from this and from what mikey has explained in the past that I should be ready for over 10 rounds. I think it goes to show that invent was better prepared by what he stated he was willing to do. I think if both sides were thinking along the same lines it wouldve been more entertaining.

I hope that clears things up :). Back to work :/

But yeah I can see how the battle could have been viewed as disappointing or unfulfilling.

I get you, but the fact remains that AoV were the ones that told Invent to go out there, so I just figure they should have already been ready for a cypher battle. As far as defending the outcome. From my viewpoint there was none. For there to be a winner somebody should've been smoked bad, and that didn't really happen. I'd say AoV gave up though just because it looked like it was getting started and then they stop. Regardless of how they felt.

On a positive note, nice to see some action in the bay for once. This area has been lacking seriously the last couple of years.

Ah yeah I see your point too man. And your input does matter way more because you were there. I'm just kinda speculating haha. Well, I think it's clear that if something like this goes down again it'll be intense! and I'll be filming =p.

Lol... I should clarify after talkin to dfunk that there was a misunderstanding. Most of the academy cats thought they were announcing the battles were gonna start up. But dfunk and i ignored that and tried to keep gettin down.

If you peep the end of the footage the announcer was tellin someone to see someone else...
