skittles

So, I've heard through the grapevine that there is already a bboy named skittles, so I don't know how long that will stick!
First name is Liz, middle name is M.E. (Pronounced "Emmy"), and in the old days, I used to go by Liz, but when I joined the entertainment industry, I chose to introduce myself as M.E. since it's unique.
I'm predominantly a locker, but I'm still pretty much a noob at a little over 2 years. I've been "dancing" since I was 5, but got really into choreography when I started watching korean music videos (LOL) and borrowed videos so I could stand in front of my TV and copy the moves. Got so deep that I went to Korea for a little while and trained. Came back to the US, finally took Hip Hop for the first time when I was 15 with a man named Moncell, aka ill Kosby from MOPTOP crew, and he drilled us on the meaning of Hip Hop. He's the first person to have ever taught me how to pop. That is when I fell in love with the true funk.
At PSU, I danced all throughout my years there, but was intimidated by the hip hop crew, RAM Squad, and never went to check them out because I assumed they were all bboys. I was teacher assistant to Kikora, our school Hiphop/African dance teacher for a couple of years, and in my senior year, a few of the RAM Squad members signed up for "Advanced Hip Hop"--including Mr. MikeyP. He convinced me to come check out RAM Squad, and I did.
I was only a part of RAM Squad for barely 4 months before I graduated, but I learned so much about locking from MikeyP in that short time. He taught me my very first lock! I'm really grateful for all of them, because they took me in and let me grow even though I was so old and was not a part of them from the beginning.
MikeyP and I used to go and make circles at the local clubs and a DJ friend of ours named DJ Remedy decided that I needed a dancer name that was a generic dancer name that didn't single me into one style. I'm also extremely smiley, and I love bright colors. They asked me if I've ever had any nicknames before, and I told them that my brothers used to call me "M&M" because of my middle name... and that's where skittles comes from.
I went to grad school, and I wasn't able to dance very much when I was there because my career comes first, but eventually, my career has brought me to the BAY so I can also fulfill my second love, dance. As soon as I came here, I seeked out different groups, emailed Ceech about his classes, and met him when I went to go see Battlefest 360. There, I met all of the lockers, and it was SO EXCITING when I saw so many people in stripes. I had never seen that many people in love with the funk before!! When I heard that their name was DS Players, I knew it was a match mate in heaven! Me, a geeky scientist who is working as a game designer; DSP, a group of people who love to play games! <3 Dancing with DSP has been both a privilege and an honor to be with such amazing people; everyone is so talented, and I hope that one day I can only be as half as funky as everyone there.
I love video games, technology, gadgets, robots, mathematics, and all around geekiness. I'm a game designer by day, but a dancer by night!
