Hey guys, this is the Kanster

I was talking to Ceech this afternoon about the website, and had an idea for an addition to the site: a history section for histories on any dance style. With contributions from everyone on this site, I think we can compile a good sized "dance database" and create a resource for all dancers, new and veteran alike, to learn about the history of their dance style. Feel free to leave comments here, since this is a work in progress. I want your feedback, and I want you to contribue to this website. Feel free to start threads and put in your 2 cents on dance styles. I also dont want to create controversy within this website, so keep it friendly guys. All the knowledge here should be respected, welcomed and taken into account, whether or not you agree or disagree. this is how we will all learn and become better dancers. Anyway, get back at me here, and hopefully we can get this started.

Sounds awesome.

I'll put together something from a perspective of having lived in San Francisco in the late 70's and seeing these dances in their early stages. There were some magical times.

Would hope to avoid unnecessary drama but I believe folks on here are much more respectful and open minded than I've seen on other boards.

oh ho ho...some great stuff. get OGMike here! you gotta tell me more about the Fillmore Strut and that business. Sounds like this is coming together. Hopefully, we can get this together. But i'll need the help of everyone. The site in general will need everyone's help, because with so many dancers out there, we all need to do our part and contribute. Anyhow, hope to see you all here again!

we definitely need more guys like kan, excited and enthusiastic about this dance culture. when you want to learn about something, you do something about it, you go out to seek it and ask for it, instead of waiting and hoping it will knock on your door someday.

i was already thinking bout putting something together on Bay Area dance history. kan just motivated me even more to get that part up. the main concern bout it is that we need contributors. everyone can contribute. don't think just because you do not dance professionally or you don't compete that you cannot contribute. if you know how to type, you can contribute.

share what you remembered. just share.

i think a good subdivision might be needed to keep an organized profile on the history of dance styles. maybe seperate folders for, histories of the bay area, southern cal, the east coast, or other major sites for dancing, and, if you have another place that hasnt been mentioned before, start your own thread! this could turn into a huge and useful resource, so keep it all coming guys. because i myself dont know too much, and would like to do more, i would encourage you (with all due respect) to contribute your ideas and thoughts: historical knowledge, ideas, new angles and more innovative thinking is most welcome. So! keep up the funk and lets get this rolling!

Sorry it's taking awhile but I've been busy with work and have to travel again.

Still drafting something up. Didn't realize I was going to write a book.

Please hang in there with me.....I swear you won't have to wait another 30 years. :)

Yeah, thank god we've been able to go a whole 2 pages on bay area history without any drama! I think thats probably a new record haha
One idea for a history section is we could do interviews like on WCP but on bay area dancers.
